Stockholm’s denim revolutionary Cheap Monday is taking over inner-Sydney’s urban fashion scene with Cheap Monday Pop, their brand new pop-up store in Surry Hills which opened this month. Nestled in the garage of The Record Store on Goulburn St, Cheap Monday Pop brings in their new season styles and their must-have winter wardrobe staples, with doors open from Wednesday – Sunday right through til the end of June.
Catering for girls and guys alike, Cheap Monday Pop is stocked with the latest offerings from their SS15 & PF15 collections – from their perfect fit, super skinny “Spray On” series jean, to their best-selling classic denim jacket, and the original “Tight” skinny jean that changed the way we saw ‘skinny’ when Cheap Monday launched in the early 00’s. Also up for grabs are an array of exclusive casual knitwear, tees and tanks, in signature clean-cut style, as well as footwear and accessories including underwear, sunglasses, bags and jewellery.
Cheap Monday has conquered markets worldwide, with the brand first coming to life when Örjan Andersson who, with some friends, owned a store which specialised in high-end denim and second hand fashion, noticed a gap in the market for affordable yet on-trend jeans. Launching in Stockholm with a humble 800-pair run in March 2004, Cheap Monday’s inaugural denim cut “Tight” was sold out within a couple of weeks. Now expanded into offering full-scale collections for men & women, Cheap Monday can today be found across 1800 stores around the world in over 35 countries.
Despite over 15,000km between the two sites, the Surry Hills location pays homage to the original Stockholm store of Cheap Monday with sleek, industrial Scandinavian style, clean monochrome palettes and vibrant lighting fixtures – sure to evoke those same vibes that were kindled inside the young trend-setters of Stockholm all those years ago.
Since popping up in Australia in 2006, Cheap Monday has become renowned for high-quality and fashionable wardrobe staples that combine effortless urban street-style with high-end fashion. Venture in store for the full Cheap Monday experience, direct from Stockholm.
